AID deficiency and autoimmunity in humans

Unlike its mouse counterpart, AID deficiency in humans is associated with an increase in the incidence of certain autoimmune disorders, particularly the immune cytopenias, such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, autoimmune thrombocytopenia or autoimmune neutropenia (Quartier et al., 2004).
